The last thing you want to do is pay for a website that isn't there when you want to use it or when your friends are trying to get in contact with you or read your stories. A good host will have multiple forms of support: live online chat, telephone support, and web forum community-based support. If you want multiple domains, so you can have, for example: www.mysite.com AND www.othersite.com, you want to find a provider who has unlimited add-on domains. If you don't know much about computers and you've never built a website before, you'll want to make sure they have all the latest visual editors and open-source script applications in an easy to use format.

I've had to look some things up to get my pages working just like I want them to, but since we have Google these days, someone else has had that same problem and they've already shared their solution on one of the many support forums that exist for these open-source (that means free!) software suites.
